Song now playing: Yellow Rose Of Texas
Don and I were born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Don graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, in 1958,
and I graduated from Downers Grove High School in Downers
Grove, in 1960.
We've both been married before, and we both have Children. Don had two children. His son Bill, passed away in 1986. His daughter, Debbie, lives in Illinois, with her family. I have three children. Fred, Deena, and Jeneen all live in Tennesee. Between us, we have six grandchildren. They bring the joy into our lives.
In 1990 Don retired from the River Forest Fire Department, and I quit my job, working in the office of an automotive paint warehouse. And we made the "big move" to northeast Texas.
Two city people!
Now we live in a small rural town, Marietta, population 112. We have 25 acres, and a lot of work. But we wouldn't have it any
other way. We love it here!
We moved here with just 4 cats. They have all passed away but we have several stray cats, and 3 dogs. We also have several horses, and foals. We used to keep some cows for a neighbor but he sold the cows.
Don and I started doing foster care when we moved to Texas. We were foster parents for 8 years, and we've had ten children in
our home. We no longer are foster parents.
Don likes to work on old pick up trucks, and has 3 old pickups. He also enjoys woodworking, and working with the horses. He's the one who rides them, the first time we saddle them. He's braver then I am. Neither Don nor I, had ever ridden before we got our first horse 10 years ago.
Don's now working at an OSB board mill in Jefferson. As you can see, he's a man of many Hats!
I love this man. Love "is" better the second time around.
Me, I'm into Precious Moments figurines. I have over 300 of them. I also enjoy the NBC soaps, Days and Passions. I help train the horses in the round pen, and I'm going to learn to ride. I'm also the official photographer in the family. I wish I were better at it. I may take a photography course through the local college. Right now though, I have my hands full, becoming a web master. I hope to learn a lot from the web, and the people I meet here.
In 1995, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which I got from one of the two blood transfusions I received in 1994, as treatment for the platelet disorder TTP. I have spent a lot of time on the web learning about both of these conditions. I have been in a Hepatitis C study program using intron A and Ribavirin. I will soon find out if it works. I have been negative of the virus since April of 1997. I finished the treatments in February of 1998. Now I wait to see if I stay negative. I think I will!
Well, here it is the end of December 2003, and I'm glad to say I'm still negative. I'll keep you informed of my progress.
I decided to learn to make graphics. So I bought Paint Shop Pro 7. Now I'm took online class's to learn how to use it. You can see my homework here. Homework
One thing we miss more then the Pizza and Hot dogs from up north are our friends and family.
IF you fall into either one of those catagories remember to stop by for a visit when your in the area. We'd love to see you!
Thank you for stopping by the BAR-TH.Y'all come back!
Don passed away on January 18, 2005 and I miss him so much.
